Please ask any questions you have about Saturday's test here in the comments section. I will log on occasionally to check and answer what I can, but you all should feel free to discuss and answer each others' questions as well.
Good luck.

Is the test just on the presentations or is it also on something I missed when i was absent.
ReplyDeleteAll of South Africa, which means a day and a half of notes from me, the presentations, the two articles, and the Mandela film.
ReplyDeleteBased on the # of questions so far, it seems like everyone is studying hard two nights before the test ... HA!
ReplyDeleteI have a question about why they really decided to host the World Cup In South Africa. I know it is supposed to better the country due to tourists and job opennings, but it is not really working.
ReplyDeleteI know this is late but will we need to know specifics such as how many people watch the world cup compared to the olympics?
ReplyDeleteKyle,
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure we just need to know that there were more world cup watchers by a lot.
How again did Mandela say in 1994 that he would pay for the R.D.P? It wasn't just going to be by giving high taxes to rich people in South Africa, right?
ReplyDeleteAnd also, about mbeki's policies, the article says that they were "market-friendly." What does that mean?
ReplyDeleteAnd Mr. Sykes, this isn't much of a question, but do you mind if I make a new section for South Africa in my binder? It would make things a lot easier.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about why FIFA chose to hold the WOrld Cup in SA jsut worry about whether or not it was a good decision.
ReplyDeleteAlso, oushould know the important stuff from the presentations, including Mr. Sykes's pres ... so if you think that means actual numbers, then it is actual numbers.
As fo paying for the redevelopment, they were hoping that the lifting of the sanctions, combined with foreign aid would pay for things ... they di NOT want to take from the rish, b/c that would have alienated them. Of course, with what we know about SA today, it seems that perhaps they fell short of raising enough $$ to pay for all of the hoped for improvements.
And make whatevr sections you want ... I've decided NOT to check binders tomorow.
And yeah, this is Mr. Sykes typing from Tatiana's account.
Good luck.
Thanks Tatiana. That was a big help.
