Welcome to the F and G Block World History Blog. This is the first time I have tried this with a class, so you all are essentially Guinea Pigs. I am not sure exactly how this is going to work, but there will be some sort of online discussion requirement for the class. I will give specific guidelines for each assignment, but know that more important than anything else is that you be respectful of each other and each other's ideas on this Blog. Not only will your classmates and I be reading everything that you post, but it is also available to everybody in the world with an internet connection.
Your first assignment is simply to use the comment link below to tell us something about yourself or your summer, or to comment on one of your classmates' comments. Good luck.

Mrs. Sykes and I spent the first half of our summer vacation travelling across southern Africa with Mr. and Mrs. Eckert. In 5.5 weeks, we drove through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Swaziland. The pics of our trip are running on the blog slideshow, and I'll tell plenty of stories later. After that, we moved out of our apartment in Locke Hall and down to our new house on Park Street. And lastly, we spend 3 weeks at the beach, relaxing and playing lots of golf.
ReplyDeleteI spent the summer at my lake in Nj. We also went up to our house in the Catskills for 2 weeks. The rest of the time i just hung out with my friends
ReplyDeleteIn July, I took a ride in the fastest street legal car in the world which. My dad's friend is an avid car collector and he just bought this car from Italy. The Bugatti Veyron has a 1001 hp and exceeds 220 mph. The whole time it felt like a roller coaster. No roller coaster can compete with the rush of this car. After I rode in it, theme parks just did not seem fun anymore. This once in a lifetime experience was my summer's greatest moment.
ReplyDeleteThis summer, my family and I took a road trip from Oregon to Wisconsin to visit my grandparents. We spent about 2.5 weeks out of Portland, sailing and kayaking most of the time, and then we returned home. I then went on a camping trip to the San Juan Islands with a friend and a few other kids to watch the orca whales that lived there. I took a lot of videos, and caught one of the whales breaching itself! It was super cool.

This summer I spent a lot of time going to different colleges with my brother and family. I spent some time up in New Hampshire as well as in Maine. Also I spent a vast majority of my time this summer at my pool.
ReplyDeleteOver the summer, I went to a camp not far from Blairstown. It was in Oak Ridge, NJ and I spent a total of 4 weeks there with one of my best friends who had moved away a few years ago. Also, I spent a week in Manteo, NC (part of the Outer Banks) with my friend and her family.
ReplyDeleteOver the course of the summer, I had four soccer tournaments that were all out of state. Besides that, I visited my family in Texas with one of my friends. We went to the pool, beach, and an amusement park while we were there. I also spent a majority of my time hanging out with friends and family.

ReplyDeleteI spent the summer down the shore at Lavallette New Jersey. My favorite pastime is sailing my laser on Barneget bay. Also I greatly enjoy spending time at the beach with my friends and family. This place is so special to me because I get to spend quality time with my family while also being able to enjoy the my surroundings(the beach)!
ReplyDeleteIm Nick and i am from Saddle River New jersey. About an hour north east of Blair. During the summer i played Baseball and went to camp in New Hampshire for a month.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I went back to Beijing in China to see my family. I met my old friends in China and my old teachers. I also went to Shanghai for five days. We went to the top of the tallest building in Shanghai, which is about 100 floors, and it was great.
ReplyDeleteI spent my summer playing and watching tennis. I trained a lot and played a few tournaments in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area. My older brother, who also plays tennis had a bunch of tournaments around the country, so our family made vacations out of them, and had fun in those different states while we watched and supported him. The best part of my summer was seeing the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati. I saw all of the top professional tennis players, and got to see how good they really are.
ReplyDeleteThis summer i went down to north carolina and spent a week at the beach i got sunburn but it was still fun.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I went to dorney park, an amusement park in PA, a few times. It was a lot of fun, and I hope to be there again at Halloween :)

ReplyDeleteOver the summer I went on a 3,000 mile ROAD TRIP!!! We went to California for a week to visit family and then we travelled around Colorado and Utah. We visited 8 National Parks including the Grand Canyon! In Colorado I also when backpacking for 3 days, up to 12,000 ft near Twilight Peak which is an hour car drive from Durango Colorado. For the last day we spend a night in Las Vegas! I got so overwhelmed by the MASSIVE malls there!
ReplyDeleteThen it was back to Bermuda . . .
My summer was consumed mostly by a piano exam, so it wasn't so much fun in general. I only spent the last week of holiday in Beijing, China and relaxed a bit then. I managed to meet some old friends as I packed and prepared for school, and it was great.
ReplyDeleteThis summer I had three jobs, 2 of them were counseling jobs and the third job was working for my town pulling weeds out of bushes or completely destroying them altogether. I also started playing tennis for the first time this summer to get ready to play in the spring for school, and I think its a lot of fun
ReplyDeleteA few years ago, we anchored our viking (a kind of boat) down in a cove on the Navesink river. i was taking my small boat down to it, and unknown to me i had mixed the oil and gas improperly (or not at all) but either way my boat started to loose power, and soon broke down. so i ended up holding my boat on a submerged sandbar, then swiming it to a coastguard boat.
ReplyDeleteMy summer really sucked. I didnt really get to do much. I didn't get out of school until the end of june. Then I stayed at home and babysitted my nephew and made some extra money! Yep, it was pretty boring.
